Karachi police constables suspended after viral video of mistreatment of fruit vendor
An incident involving the alleged mistreatment of a fruit vendor by a police officer has emerged in Karachi, leading police officials to take action after the video went viral on social media.
The incident took place near Qalandria Chowk in North Nazimabad. Following the video’s circulation, police authorities announced the suspension of three officers, including the driver of the police mobile.
The footage shows the officer attempting to take a melon from the vendor without paying. When the vendor refuses to comply, the officer mistreats and threatens him.
The viral video reveals that the fruit vendor was with his young daughter near his cart when the officers mistreated him in her presence. The officer claimed he was taking the melon for his home and accused the vendor of refusing to give it for free.
Additionally, the video features a bystander suggesting the officer take two melons instead of one, while another passerby questions the rationale behind taking any.

Following the altercation, the police officers departed in their vehicle, leaving the vendor’s three or four-year-old daughter at the cart with him throughout the incident.
