Kashmiri vendor attacked at Gita Mahotsav in Haryana, video of incident goes viral
A video showing a Kashmiri vendor being attacked at the International Gita Mahotsav in Kurukshetra, Haryana, has gone viral.
The incident occurred on Saturday when a group of right-wing activists held a procession along the banks of Brahma Sarovar.
During the event, one activist confronted the vendor, urging attendees not to purchase items from minority community stalls.
The situation escalated when the activist began throwing the vendor’s goods onto the street, and another individual struck the vendor with a stick. They expressed objections to the allocation of stalls to vendors from minority communities at the festival.
Despite the aggression, several attendees intervened to support the vendor. Following the incident, the vendor reported the attack to the police and the Kurukshetra Development Board (KDB), seeking action against the assailants.
A leader from the Vishwa Hindu Parishad in Kurukshetra suggested that the KDB should avoid allocating stalls to minority community members during religious events, citing potential offense to sentiments.

Social worker Ashok Sharma emphasized that stalls are set up only after obtaining necessary permissions from the KDB and urged protestors to address their concerns directly with the board instead of targeting stall owners.
Upender Singhal, honorary secretary of the KDB, confirmed awareness of the incident, attributing it to individuals with personal agendas and stating that appropriate action would be taken.
Kurukshetra Superintendent of Police Varun Singla announced that a case had been registered and that the matter is under investigation to ensure proper action is taken against those involved.
