Karachi: Roof collapse in Janjal Goth kills six - Breaking - Aaj News

At least six people were killed after the roof of a house collapsed in the Janjal Goth area of Gulshan-e-Maymar, Karachi, on Saturday.

According to rescue officials, they died after being trapped under the debris. Among the deceased were three girls and two women.

The deceased were guests in the house, while five young girls belonged to the same family. The children were visiting their uncle and construction work was ongoing on the roof.

They added that the house owner had loaded an “entire truck of gravel” onto the roof, leading to the fatalities “due to suffocation” from being buried under the debris.

The victims include three minors, Saadia, 25, and Kainat, 20. Five bodies were taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital while one was transported to Dow Medical College.

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah offered his condolences to the families of the six individuals who lost their lives when the roof collapsed in the Afghan camp. He extended “heartfelt sympathy” to the affected families and expressed his sorrow over the tragic incident.

The Sindh chief minister prayed for the forgiveness of the deceased and for patience for their surviving relatives.

In August 2024, a young woman was killed while her four family members were injured when the roof of their house collapsed and fell on them due to rain in the Korangi Industrial Area.
