The COAS also visited the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Bannu, where he met injured soldiers and praised their resilience and unwavering commitment.
Expressing deep sorrow over the loss of innocent civilians in the attack, he assured their families that the perpetrators would face justice.
“The brutal targeting of civilians, including women, children, and the elderly, exposes the real anti-Islamic agenda of these terrorists,” he emphasised, calling for national unity in the fight against terrorism.
Bannu attack: A failed terrorist attempt
Security forces successfully repelled the attack on Bannu Cantonment, eliminating six terrorists at various entry points.
According to sources, the attackers attempted to breach the cantonment after Iftar using two explosives-laden vehicles, causing damage to a mosque and a nearby house. The attack resulted in 12 civilian casualties and 32 injuries.
Upon arrival, the COAS was received by Peshawar Corps Commander, where he reiterated that Pakistan’s armed forces remain steadfast in ensuring the security and stability of the nation.
