The provincial government has launched the ‘Punjab CM Free Solar Panel Scheme’ in Pakistan’s largest populated province, encouraging people to switch to renewable energy sources amid the rising cost of electricity.

Individuals can apply for this scheme in two ways:

• The official portal: cmsolarscheme.punjab.gov.pk.

1. You need to register on the portal.
2. You can add details.
3. There is a need to check eligibility criteria.
4. If you are eligible for the scheme, then digital balloting will take place for registered consumers.
5. Physical verification of consumers will happen to ensure the authenticity of consumers.

• SMS registration by sending bill reference number and CNIC to 8800.

Phase 1 of the scheme will be completed by the end of July.

A digital balloting was held on Monday for the scheme.

Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz conducted an automatic digital balloting by giving different numbers and congratulated the lucky users who succeeded in the scheme.

The installation of the solar panels will start by the end of March.

She said that a total of 861,000 consumers have applied for the initiative.
