Pakistan Meteorological Department forecasts dry weather in most parts, including Karachi
The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast mainly cold and dry weather in most parts of the country, including Karachi.
“However, cloudy weather with rain-wind/thunderstorm (snowfall over hills) is likely in North/Northwestern Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir and Upper/Central Punjab during evening/night,” the PMD said in its daily update.
Karachi experienced a surge in heat on the first day of Ramazan, with the Pakistan Meteorological Department predicting a rise in temperatures by one to two degrees Celsius.
The daytime is expected to be hot with strong sunlight, and the maximum temperature could reach up to 32 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature is anticipated to range between 19 to 21 degrees Celsius.
The weather in the city was cloudy in the morning, providing a mild chill that feels pleasant. The temperature was recorded at 17 degrees Celsius, with winds blowing from the northwest at a speed of six kilometers per hour. The humidity level stood at 82 per cent.
But the air quality situation in Karachi was concerning. According to the Air Quality Index, the city’s air quality was deemed “unhealthy,” with an AQI level of 132, recorded at 8am. Karachi was placed 12th most polluted city in the world. The concentration of particulate matter in the air was recorded at 152 micrograms per cubic meter.

Morever, the weather is expected to remain pleasant during the first 10 days of Ramazan. The Pakistan Meteorological Department has predicted rain in regions including Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, upper and central Punjab, and Sindh starting today. Strong winds are anticipated in Karachi.
In the northern parts of the country, snowfall is expected in the mountains while other areas will experience cold and dry weather. The PMD also predicted rain in various locations, such as Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Mastung, Pishin, Qila Abdullah, and Qila Saifullah, from March 2 to 3.
