Dry and partly cloudy weather is likely in most parts of the country on Friday (today), the Pakistan Meteorological Department said.

“But rain-wind and thunderstorm [snowfall over hills] is expected at isolated places in Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, northeast Balochistan, northeast Punjab, Pothohar region, Islamabad, [Azad Jammu and] Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan during day time,” the Met Office said in its daily update.

“Light to moderate fog may develop in few plain areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and central/south Punjab.”

The Met Office has warned that heavy rain and snowfall might cause road closure or slippery conditions in Murree, Galliyat, Naran, Kaghan, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Shangla, Astore, Hunza, Skardu, Neelum valley, Bagh, Poonch, Haveli during tonight and Friday (today).

There is also a possibility of landslides in hilly areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, AJK, Murree and Galliyat. Tourists have been advised to remain “extra cautious” and avoid unnecessary travelling during heavy episodes of snow and rainfall.
