The General Authority for the Care of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque has unveiled a comprehensive operational plan to serve millions of worshippers and pilgrims.

Throughout the month, over 5.5 million iftar meals will be provided, so visitors can break their fast without any worries, Gulf News reported.

There will be at least 20,000 containers of Zamzam water available and at approximately 33,000 fresh prayer rugs have been spread out across the mosque’s large courtyards.

For the elderly and those with mobility challenges, there will be approximately 10,000 hand carts and 400 electric golf carts in the mosque.

A new service, five mobile stations for tahallul (cutting hair), will be available for pilgrims. These stations will include mobile barber services to manage the crowd while keeping everything clean and safe.

For the first time, there will be a luggage storage and tracking system with two main storage areas and six drop-off points at the mosque’s entrances.

The Grand Mosque will also enhance services for children by setting up three children’s hosting centers. These centers will offer religious, cultural, and educational activities, allowing parents to worship with peace of mind.

To support the growing number of worshippers participating in spiritual seclusion (i’tikaf), the mosque will introduce better facilities, including dedicated reflection spaces and improved access to services and guidance.

The Ramadan operational plan focuses on environmental and infrastructure upgrades to keep key amenities functioning well.

The authority has completed maintenance on escalators, elevators, ventilation systems, sound systems, and air conditioning units to ensure optimal conditions for worshippers.

A specialized team is monitoring weather changes to respond quickly to rain and other environmental factors.

To help visitors navigate the mosque’s large area, hundreds of directional signs have been installed, along with multilingual guidance teams. The new “Mobile Guides” initiative will feature trained staff throughout the mosque to assist visitors in real-time.

Improvements in cleaning, sanitization, and fragrance have been made, with advanced equipment used to maintain hygiene in prayer areas, restrooms, and busy zones. Cooled and non-cooled Zamzam water will be continuously available at multiple points.

The authority has also expanded cultural and educational programs for worshippers. The “First House” exhibition will take place in the mosque’s new expansion area, showcasing the Kaaba’s history through interactive displays and rare artifacts.

Visitors can tour the King Abdulaziz Complex for the Kiswa (Kaaba Covering).

A simple QR code scan will provide access to religious texts, prayers, and instructional videos for spiritual guidance.
