Saudi Arabia has introduced a mobile application that will show pilgrims the capacity status of the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah as thousands of Muslims flock to the city during Ramazan, Gulf News reported.

The General Authority for Care of the Prophet’s Mosque dubbed the ‘status of prayer places’ at the Prophet’s Mosque, the app will allow worshippers to learn about the capacity status in different prayer places at the mosque especially at peak times, thus avoiding congestion.

The service is available in Arabic, English, and Urdu and uses colours to highlight the capacity status in different prayer places. The green colour shows that the place is ‘available’; yellow means ‘crowded’; pink is used for ‘full’; and grey means ‘unavailable’.

Pilgrims are set to head to Madinah after performing Umrah to offer prayers at the Prophet’s Mosque.

Meanwhile, Saudi authorities at the Prophet’s Mosque ensured that they were ready to serve large numbers of worshippers in Ramazan.

In this regard, the authorities plan to distribute more than 8.5 million iftar meals to worshippers during the holy month and around 2.5 million bottles of the blessed Zamzam water will be provided at the mosque.

Ramazan began in Saudi Arabia and Gulf countries on March 11. Muslims in Pakistan sighted the Ramazan moon on the same day and began fasting on March 12.
