Judicial Commission expands constitutional bench members
The Judicial Commission has expanded the members of the constitutional bench, adding Justice Hashim Kakar, Justice Aamer Farooq, and Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim, along with Justice Salahuddin and Justice Shakeel Ahmed.
A meeting of the Judicial Commission, chaired by Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Yahya Afridi, was held to discuss judicial appointments.
The commission reviewed the names of eight session judges for additional judge appointments. The candidates considered included Raja Ghazanfar Ali Khan, Qaiser Nazir Butt, Akmal Khan, and Tanveer Ahmed Sheikh, along with Jazeela Aslam, Tariq Mehmood Bajwa, Shahida Saeed, and Akbar Gul Khan.
The Judicial Commission approved the appointment of four additional judges to the Lahore High Court, selecting Ghazanfar Ali, Tariq Bajwa, Abher Gul, and Tanveer Sheikh. These judges have been appointed as additional judges for one year.

Sources indicate that Raja Ghazanfar Ali Khan received 14 votes, Abher Gul Khan secured 11, Tanveer Ahmed Sheikh got 10, and Tariq Mehmood Bajwa received 12 votes.
With this expansion, Justice Hashim Kakar, Justice Aamer Farooq, Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim, Justice Salahuddin Panhwar, and Justice Shakeel Ahmed have been officially designated as members of the constitutional bench.
