Gandapur warns of consequences over rights denial
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has issued a strong warning, stating that if force is used against those demanding their rights, those responsible will bear the consequences.
Speaking at the NFC Dialogue in Islamabad, he stressed that when the state fails to grant people their due rights, it breeds resentment. He warned that public disengagement leads to tax evasion, ultimately escalating into law and order crises.
Gandapur highlighted the sacrifices made by the people of the former Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), vowing to fight for the province’s rightful share of resources.
He emphasised that FATA’s merger with KP had increased the province’s population by 5.7 million, further stretching already limited resources.

“These areas were already underdeveloped, and to bring them at par with the rest of the country, additional funding is essential,” he said.
The CM criticised the federal government for failing to deliver the promised financial support, stating that from 2019 to 2024, only 20 per cent of the required funds were provided.
He asserted that based on population and land area, KP should have received Rs600 billion over six years at an annual rate of Rs100 billion.
Instead, only Rs132 billion was allocated, with no funds disbursed for FATA since July, forcing the provincial government to cover the expenses.
Gandapur also condemned the repeated issuance of ordinances instead of a new NFC Award, urging immediate consultations on the matter.
“We need our constitutional rights, not temporary ordinances,” he asserted.
He further hinted at upcoming action, saying, “I am giving due consideration for Ramazan, but after that, we will surprise you.”
In a final warning, the KP CM reiterated his stance: “We will go to the last extent for our rights. If bullets are fired at us, those who fire them will be responsible for the consequences.”
His remarks reflect growing frustration over financial disparities and could signal an escalation in KP’s push for its constitutional entitlements.
