Postponed decision to approach SC after army chief’s assurance on NFC award: Gandapur
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has claimed that the provincial government postponed its decision to approach the Supreme Court over the release of funds after the army chief assured a meeting regarding the National Finance Committee award issue.
“The province’s resources have been undervalued in the past,” he told reporters in Peshawar on Monday. “I will not take loans for projects that may be difficult to repay. Borrowing will only occur against resources that can cover the debt.”
The KP government has long claimed that it was not provided adequate funds for the merged districts under the NFC award. It has maintained that the federal government has not fulfilled its promise.
The chief minister claimed that KP saw the most development, yielding significant benefits compared to other provinces. He challenged the chief ministers of the other three provinces to a performance review.
Gandapur also pointed out that discussions of corruption among chief ministers were prevalent in other provinces, but it was not the case in the province. He has empowered the chief secretary to interrogate anyone as needed to combat corruption “effectively.”
He expressed his dissatisfaction over the absence of a new NFC award for the province, calling it an “injustice.” He noted that the new NFC award, following the inclusion of erstwhile FATA, would result in an additional allocation of Rs130 to Rs150 billion for the province.
In a meeting with the army chief, Gandapur claimed that he requested the convening of a new NFC award meeting to which the army chief assured him.

The chief minister also discussed the seventh NFC award, stating that KP’s share has increased from 5.14% to over 19%, resulting in an additional Rs360 billion for the province.
Gandapur reaffirmed that any changes in the cabinet would be based on the directives of Khan, emphasising that claims of corruption among ministers lack credibility.
He expressed confidence in the PTI founder as the reason for his position as chief minister.
