Gold prices plunge after days of gains

After several days of continuous increases, gold prices witnessed a sharp decline in both global and local markets.

In Pakistan, the price of gold dropped by Rs2,000 per tola today.

According to the All Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Association, on the fifth business day of the week, the price of one tola of gold fell by Rs2,000, bringing it down to Rs307,000.

Similarly, the price of 10 grams of gold decreased by Rs1,714, settling at Rs263,203.

In the international market, gold prices fell by $23 per ounce, now standing at $2,930.

Despite today’s drop, gold prices have surged significantly in 2024. Since the start of the year, gold per tola has increased by Rs52,600 — a 23.9% rise.

At the end of 2023, gold was recorded at Rs220,000 per tola, but by the close of 2024, it had climbed to Rs272,600.
