Injured Zaman eyes ‘stronger comeback’ after being ruled out of Champions Trophy
Batter Fakhar Zaman has aimed at making a ‘stronger comeback’ after being ruled out of the Champions Trophy because of an injury in the first match of the mega event against New Zealand in Karachi.
“Representing Pakistan on the biggest stage is an honour and dream of every cricketer in this country,” he said in an Instagram post on Tuesday.
He was ruled out of the blockbuster clash against India in the mega event. The Green Shirts are scheduled to face archrivals India on Sunday.
Zaman was injured while fielding in the opening over of the match against New Zealand in Karachi and has been subsequently ruled out of the tournament.
Pakistan failed to chase down New Zealand’s target of 321 runs, concluding their innings at 260 all out.
Former cricketer Inzamamul Haq’s nephew Imamul Haq would replace him in the squad.
Zaman described representing his country multiple times in the game as a privilege. “Unfortunately I’m now out of ICC Champions Trophy 2025 but surely Allah is the best planner. Grateful for the opportunity. I will be backing our boys in green from home,” he said.
The swashbuckling batter added: “This is only just the beginning, the comeback will be stronger than the setback. Pakistan Zindabad.”
