Over 120 PTI supporters arrested in Nov 26 protest get relief
The Islamabad High Court approved the bail applications of more than 120 Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf supporters who were arrested during the November 26 protests.
The court ordered the “immediate release” of all workers. Acting IHC Chief Justice Sarfraz Dogar and Justice Muhammad Asif heard the bail applications.
The court instructed the detained PTI workers to provide an affidavit at the police station, affirming that “they would not commit such offences in the future,” as directed by the acting IHC chief justice.
Lawyers Ali Bukhari, Babar Awan, Murtaza Turi, and others represented the workers in court. The bench mandated a surety bond of Rs20,000 to be submitted.
Thousands of PTI supporters marched on November 24 from different cities to Islamabad for Khan’s “final call” to “ensure the release of party members and restoration of democracy.”
They managed to reach the federal capital despite roadblocks and disruptions to the internet and cellular services.
