Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee to meet on Feb 28 for Ramazan moon sighting
The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee is scheduled to meet in Peshawar on February 28 to observe the sighting of the Ramazan moon.
The federal government has accelerated efforts to ensure that Ramadan begins on the same day across the country, according to a notification.
Committee Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad would preside over the meeting. It would commence after the Asr prayer.
Various zonal committees would hold meetings in their respective areas to collect and evaluate moon sighting reports.
The ministry added that all arrangements for the meeting would be carried out under its supervision.
A weather analyst at the Saudi National Centre for Meteorology, Aqil Al Aqil, noted that this year’s Ramazan will coincide with the onset of spring, bringing cooler temperatures to the Saudi kingdom.
Ramazan is expected to begin on the evening of either February 28 or March 1.
The holy month, last year took place on March 23, 2024, in the country.
Last year, the Establishment Division announced shortened working hours for government offices in the month of Ramadan.

Ramazan, the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, is a time dedicated to fasting, prayer, and charitable acts.
Muslims are required to abstain from food and drink from dawn until sunset, focusing on spiritual growth and community service.
Eidul Fitr, which marks the conclusion of Ramazan, is anticipated to fall on either March 30 or March 31, depending again on the sighting of the Shawwal moon.
