Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) has announced a nationwide contest, with a cash prize of Rs100,000 to propose a name for the lunar rover.

Pakistan’s inaugural lunar rover is scheduled to be launched in 2028 as part of China’s Chang’E 8 mission.

The lunar rover will play a pivotal role in exploring the Moon’s surface, navigating its harsh terrain, conducting scientific experiments, and transmitting essential data back to Earth.

The contest titled “Name Pakistan’s Lunar Rover” has been launched, which is open for students, space enthusiasts, and the general public across Pakistan.

The winner will receive national recognition for their contribution.

Each participant is allowed to submit only one entry, and the deadline for submissions is March 15, 2025.
