Champions Trophy 2025 kicks off today

ICC names commentary panel — how many Pakistanis are included?

The much-anticipated Champions Trophy 2025 kicks off today, set to be played across three major Pakistani cities — Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi — as well as Dubai.

The tournament runs from February 19 to March 9.

Meanwhile, the International Cricket Council (ICC) unveiled the commentary panel for the Champions Trophy 2025, featuring some of the biggest names in cricket, including Pakistan’s Wasim Akram and Ramiz Raja.

The opening match will see hosts Pakistan take on New Zealand at Karachi’s National Bank Stadium.

With live coverage spanning four major venues, ICC has ensured a world-feed broadcast service, allowing cricket fans worldwide to experience every moment of the action.

In addition, pre-match analysis will feature insights from legendary cricket figures, with the best commentators in the business providing expert opinions.

The star-studded commentary panel includes Nasser Hussain, Ian Smith, Ian Bishop, Ravi Shastri, Aaron Finch, Matthew Hayden, Ramiz Raja, Mel Jones, Wasim Akram, Sunil Gavaskar, Harsha Bhogle, Michael Atherton, Pommie Mbangwa, Simon Doull, Dale Steyn, Bazid Khan, and Dinesh Karthik.

West Indian legend and veteran commentator Ian Bishop expressed his excitement about the event, highlighting the significance of hosting a major ICC tournament in Pakistan after a long gap.

He praised Pakistani fans as some of the most passionate in the world, adding that their presence in stadiums will provide immense support to the players.

Bishop also described being part of the commentary team for such a prestigious global event as an honour.
