Key Parking Issue in Karachi, Major Announcement by Mayor Karachi | Aaj News

The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has decided to make all parking sites free of charge.

“The decision is made in the public interest and no fees would be collected from KMC parking sites moving forward,” he said while participating in a panel discussion ‘Urban Dialogue: The Karachi Katchehri’ at the Karachi Literature Festival on Sunday.

Mansoor Raza and Bilal Hassan were also part of the session moderated by Mahim Maher. They addressed the challenges of the city’s governance and infrastructural issues.

“This change is set to be implemented soon.”

Wahab mentioned that fees would no longer be charged at 46 parking sites established along 106 main roads in Karachi, although parking fees would remain in effect in 25 towns and six cantonment boards.

The city mayor emphasised that a notification would be issued to relieve citizens of the parking fee burden, and legal action would be taken against individuals collecting illegal charges under KMC’s name.

Wahab also highlighted that KMC was “financially stable,” with over Rs2 billion in its accounts.
