Kurram jirga gives three-day deadline for armed groups to leave

Official sources state that the convoy consists of over 100 vehicles

A Grand Peace Jirga convened in Kurram Agency has issued a three-day deadline for armed groups to vacate the area. The Jirga’s statement warned that failure to comply will leave the nation with no option but to launch a military operation.

The Jirga demanded that the state provide the police with all necessary resources to effectively counter terrorism. Further demands included granting the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) full powers, ensuring 100% implementation of the National Action Plan, and taking indiscriminate action against terrorists.

The statement emphasized the need for a serious state response to terrorism, assuring that the public will fully support such measures. The Jirga also decided to socially boycott individuals identified as facilitating terrorist activities.

The Jirga was attended by thousands, including MNA Shahid Khattak, Provincial Minister for Agriculture Major Sajjad Barkwal, and leaders from all political parties.

Separately, after a prolonged delay, another convoy carrying essential supplies—food, medicine, fruits, vegetables, and other necessities—has departed from Thal for Parachinar in Kurram District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Official sources state that the convoy consists of over 100 vehicles, a figure confirmed by the trade union.
