Hyderabad lawyers’ protest ends with SSP’s leave
The three-day protest by lawyers in Hyderabad has successfully concluded, resulting in authorities sending SSP Dr. Farukh Lanjhar on leave.
The unrest began when a lawyer received a ticket for having a siren and a fancy number plate, leading to a confrontation between lawyers and police.
In response to the Bhitai Nagar police filing a case, the lawyers demanded the SSP’s transfer and organized a sit-in on the Hyderabad bypass.
According to an order from the DIG Hyderabad, the SSP is taking leave for personal reasons, with the SSP of Tando Muhammad Khan assigned additional responsibilities.
During the protest, President of the Karachi Bar Association, Amir Warraich, announced the SSP’s leave from an official notification, prompting the lawyers to declare their protest successful and end the sit-in.
