Hyderabad lawyers sit-in on the National Highway against the registration of the first information report against a colleague entered the second day on Friday, disrupting traffic between interior Sindh and Punjab.

The sit-in, taking place in the Wadhu Wah area, has caused significant delays, with long queues of vehicles forming as a result.

The unrest began following a confrontation between lawyers and police after they booked Tando Allahyar Advocate Ali Raza Bozdar for using a car bearing tinted glasses and a fancy number plate.

Lawyers have alleged that police brutality in handling the situation escalated when Raza was reportedly detained. He was later released on bail.

In response to the incident, the Hyderabad High Court Bar Association has demanded the suspension of the Bhitai Nagar SHO. A group of lawyers also stormed the office of Hyderabad’s SSP Farrukh Lanjar on Thursday, leading to negotiations that lasted over 12 hours.

In the wake of the protests, several police officers have allegedly applied for leave, citing the “tense atmosphere.”

DIG Tariq Razak Dharejo visited the SSP office to encourage officers to return to duty, emphasising the need for law enforcement to remain professional despite the challenges.
