Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s free solar system scheme has garnered significant interest, attracting more than 1.6 million registrations, as reported by the provincial energy department.

Under this initiative, 130,000 eligible participants will receive solar power systems, with 65,000 beneficiaries selected in each of the two phases.

The program is primarily aimed at individuals registered under the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP).

Officials noted that consumers using up to 100 electricity units per month are eligible for a 50% subsidy on the solar systems, with the total cost of each system estimated at around Rs200,000.
