Emily in Paris actress Lily Collins and Charlie McDowell have become parents, announcing the arrival of their first baby via surrogate on January 31.

“Welcome to the center of our world, Tove Jane McDowell. Words will never express our endless gratitude for our incredible surrogate and everyone who helped us along the way. We love you to the moon and back again…,” she said in an Instagram post.

Collins, 35, also posted a photo of their newborn in a bassinet.

Before the birth of her daughter, the American actress was candid about how her desire to start a family motivated her to confront her eating disorder.

In an exclusive interview with Us Weekly in July 2017, Collins shared, “Everyone has a different form of recovery. I never had an ‘aha’ moment. My reason to finally start talking about [my eating disorder] was the moment I realized I wanted a family. I wanted kids. I didn’t want this to be something I bring into that.”

Collins and McDowell’s romance began on the set of his film Gilded Rage in 2019. They made their relationship Instagram official that August, with Collins sharing a series of photos from Paris, captioned, “Always got your back…”

In September 2020, Collins announced their engagement on Instagram, expressing her excitement with a message. “I’ve been waiting my lifetime for you and I can’t wait to spend our lifetime together,” sahe said and posted a photo of the couple sharing a kiss.

In an October 2020 appearance on Live With Kelly and Ryan, the award-winning actress revealed that she felt McDowell was “The One” from their very first meeting.
