New video reveals full Washington DC plane crash
Newly released footage has revealed the moment a passenger plane collided with a military helicopter over Washington, DC, prompting United States Donald Trump to comment that the chopper was “flying too high by a lot.”
Two CCTV videos obtained by CNN show the incident involving a Black Hawk helicopter and an American Airlines flight, which resulted in a fireball as both aircraft plummeted into the frigid waters of the Potomac River.
In the footage, the passenger jet appears as a bright light approaching the camera while landing at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. The helicopter is then seen entering the frame from the left just seconds before the two aircraft collide, erupting into flames.
Footage shows the wreckage of both the passenger plane and military helicopter crashing into the icy waters of the Potomac River.

According to four officials speaking to The New York Times, military pilots had requested a specific flight path known as Route 4 from air traffic control, which allows helicopters to operate at low altitudes along the eastern bank of the river. But the helicopter reportedly flew higher and farther from the bank than permitted.
While the helicopter was required to maintain an altitude below 200 feet, it allegedly climbed above 300 feet before colliding with the commercial airliner.
In response to the incident, Trump took to Truth Social, stating, “The Black Hawk helicopter was flying too high, by a lot. It was far above the 200-foot limit.”
