An English couple, who has been travelling to different countries, has found Pakistan ‘magical’ and praised the country’s hospitality.

“We live in a big Pakistani community at home and we have a lot of friends that come home and visit and we always see a lot of photos. It’s always been such a beautiful place to look at and so I was super excited to visit this amazing place only seen in photographs. It has very much lived up to it,” Alex told Shaukat Piracha of Aaj News.

The anchorperson’s Saturday show Rubaroo was based on foreign travellers. He met with foreigners and got to know about their experience of living in the country.

Alex with her husband Alice entered Pakistan via China. They have plans to go to Australia on their camper van.

When asked, she said that many people found their decision to go on a journey as “brave”. She added that they often find in every country where they have been to that people were welcoming.

“We have been here [Pakistan] for nearly two months and we absolutely love it here. It has been amazing. Everything from the landscape to the culture, and the food, but most importantly, the most amazing thing has been the people and how they have welcomed us into this beautiful country,” said Alice.

He stated that they have been to 17 countries in 13 months and their stay in countries varies.

When asked about the special things in Pakistan, Alex said: “The place is just so magical. Specifically, the environment for me coming from London, which is a concrete jungle, is a paradise. It is so lush, green and beautiful, the mountains are so awesome. It has completely blown me away.”

She went on to praise the hospitality which has made her feel “so homely”

Alex told Piracha that their vehicle was five years ago. “We have 83,000 miles on it which is too much for an old car. Now it has about 105,000 miles so we have had lots of good use.”

Both of them praised Pakistani food. They added that their trip was self-funded and saved up for it while working for three years. Alice said that they live on a tight budget and the van has zeroed their accommodation, water, and electricity costs.

In response to a question, he said: “We feel that the things that we read are never as scary as they seem especially when you actually get to a country like Pakistan. We always felt safe as on the ground people are also living their life. We felt really safe throughout this journey.”
