Sindh’s Excise and Taxation Minister, Mukesh Kumar Chawla, has announced that all vehicles in the province must display new Ajrak-designed number plates beginning April 3.

During a recent implementation meeting, Chawla emphasized that vehicles without these plates will not be allowed on the roads.

The meeting included key officials such as Secretary Excise Muhammad Saleem Rajput and DIG Traffic Police Karachi Ahmed Nawaz.

Chawla instructed the development of a joint action plan to facilitate the payment of fines related to motor vehicle taxes and traffic violations.

To streamline processes, traffic police will be provided with counter desks at the Civic Center and Excise Department Facilitation Centers for a one-window operation.

The minister also highlighted the need for traffic police to be deployed at road checkpoints and for better integration of traffic challans with Motor Vehicle Registration (MVR) taxes.

He stated that the Excise Department would assist by maintaining records of outstanding challans, making the payment of vehicle transfers and taxes contingent upon settling these dues.

Chawla urged the Secretary of Sindh Excise to prepare a proposal to enhance the online system for tracking pending taxes and fines, ensuring all dues can be paid conveniently from a single point.
