How much Hajj would cost this year?
The final estimate for Hajj expenses under the government scheme has been set at Rs1.05 million for the 40-day official Hajj package, sources said.
Initial estimates ranged from Rs1.075 million to Rs1.175 million. The Ministry of Religious Affairs had begun accepting Hajj applications based on such preliminary figures.
After final agreements were made in Saudi Arabia, the definitive estimate for the Hajj scheme was established. For the short-duration Hajj package, the cost is set at Rs1.1 million per person.
This year, all pilgrims would benefit from air conditioning in Mina, replacing previous cooler setups.
Accommodations would also feature gypsum board tents instead of traditional cloth tents and sofa beds in place of mattresses, sources said and added that shelf facilities will be included in the Hajj package.
Hotel costs have decreased following agreements in Saudi Arabia.
The additional charges for double beds have been reduced by Rs74,000, bringing the price down from Rs259,000 to Rs185,000.

Similarly, the extra charges for triple beds have dropped from Rs86,500 to Rs63,000. The Ministry of Religious Affairs is expected to announce the final Hajj expenses in the coming days.
