Joint forces in Kurrum’s Bagan seize illegal weapons
A joint operation by the district administration, police, and security agencies in Kurrum’s Bagan led to the seizure of a significant number of illegal weapons from January 19 to 21, officials said on Wednesday.
Additionally, a convoy carrying relief supplies is set to depart for Parachinar today as arrangements and security protocols are in place.
An attack on the convoy resulted in the deaths of two security personnel and six drivers, while six attackers were killed.
The number of vehicles in the convoy is not yet finalized, but data compilation and necessary preparations are ongoing.
Official sources stated that, as per the signed peace agreement in Kurram, strict actions will be taken against miscreants without discrimination in response to any future incidents.
Security forces imposed curfew in Lower Kurram and began an operation in Bagan to find and apprehend terrorists involved in a recent attack on an aid convoy that killed multiple officials and truck drivers on January 19.
Leaders from Kurram warned prior four days that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government would outline their future course of action if the Kohat peace agreement were not implemented. A convoy transporting food and essential supplies from Thall to Parachinar was ambushed on Friday, January 19, shortly after a peace agreement was reached between conflicting factions. The attack led to the martyrdom of two security personnel, with five others sustaining injuries.
Vehicles loaded with relief items travelling towards Parachinar came under attack on Thursday, January 16, when unidentified men opened fire at them.
Security forces, including the army, police, and Frontier Corps (FC), launched a major operation on January 12, demolishing two militant bunkers in the region. A heavy security presence was deployed throughout the operation.
