Here are new subject groups for matriculation students in Punjab
The Punjab government has introduced new subject groups and eliminated two traditional subjects for matriculation students.
This change will be effective from April 2025.
The updated curriculum will include Health Sciences, Computer Science, Fashion Design, Agricultural Science, Communication Studies, Technology, and Personal Grooming.
The Lahore Board will soon announce decisions regarding the implementation of these new subjects.
The new major courses will be assigned marks between 100 and 150. Students will choose their matriculation subjects at the start of ninth grade. Major courses will be clearly highlighted on students’ report cards.
“Earlier, matriculation was only offered in science and arts groups. This initiative is a step towards aligning our education system with global standards,” Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikander Hayat said.
