A sting operation conducted by “Target” on Aaj News has exposed a widespread corruption racket involving the issuance of domiciles and Provincial Recognition Certificates (PRCs) in Karachi.

The investigation revealed that what should be a simple process is being exploited, with the price of obtaining a domicile and PRC inflated to Rs 4,500 – far exceeding the legitimate cost.

Team Target’s undercover investigation at the Deputy Commissioner East’s office successfully obtained a genuine domicile and PRC within a single day by paying a bribe. This illegal activity, the report suggests, has been ongoing for a considerable period.

The report highlights the plight of impoverished students who are forced to pay bribes to secure the necessary documents for college admissions. The sting operation caught a bribe-taking official red-handed in the domicile branch.
