A severe cold wave is affecting the country, with rain and snowfall significantly lowering temperatures in northern regions.
The Meteorological Department has issued warnings regarding an expected intensification of cold conditions.
Rain and snowfall are likely in upper areas and northwestern Balochistan, as a new system of western winds makes its way into the western regions today.
Between now and January 20, cities such as Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Barkhan, Qalat, and Khuzdar are forecasted to receive substantial rainfall. Additional precipitation is also anticipated in Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Attock, Jhelum, and Chakwal.
Murree, Galiyat, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir are expected to experience heavy snowfall, while certain areas of Balochistan may face risks of flooding due to the ongoing rain.
In Punjab, dense fog has enveloped several areas, resulting in the closure of the motorway from Samundri to Dera Khana and from Gojra to Multan due to poor visibility.
