Groom’s brothers, friends shower money at wedding in Punjab’s Sialkot
An overseas Pakistani wedding turned into a spectacle as cash was showered during the celebrations in Punjab’s Sialkot.
Clips from the wedding showed that the groom’s brothers and friends showered millions of rupees in notes. A viral video showed the groom, his friends and relatives throwing money from a container.
The village of Bikhre Wali in Sialkot is known as a hub for overseas Pakistanis where the “practice of showering cash at weddings has become a tradition”.
This time, friends showered both local and foreign currency, benefiting those who collected the cash. Over Rs5 million worth of local and foreign currency was thrown during the wedding.
This is not the first instance of foreign currency being showered at weddings; many previous celebrations have also seen similar displays of wealth, with cash, mobile phones, and other items being tossed into the crowd.
Lavish weddings in Pakistan are often extravagant celebrations that showcase opulence and cultural traditions, reflecting the social status and wealth of the families involved.
Such events can span several days, featuring elaborate decorations, grand venues, and luxurious catering services.
Despite the economic challenges faced by many, lavish weddings remain a significant aspect of culture.
