A Pakistani woman, Madiha Kazmi, has opened up about her journey of remarrying 18 years after her divorce, prioritizing her children’s approval over her new relationship.

In an interview with BBC Urdu, she said that when her divorce occurred, her children were very young, which led her to prioritize their stability over her own desire to remarry.

Kazmi explained that societal norms often make it difficult for children to accept their mother’s new partner. Consequently, she set a clear condition for her new relationship: her partner must be willing to embrace her children before she would consider marriage.

Her son, Abdul Ahad, discussed the journey in a recent interview, sharing that although there had been several proposals over the years, their mother consistently turned them down. However, one day, Kazmi approached Abdul Ahad to discuss a potential match, marking a turning point in their lives.

During the wedding ceremony, Abdul Ahad had the rare honor of being a witness to his mother’s marriage, a moment praised by the cleric officiating the ceremony.
