New photos reveal Toyota Hilux Travo test unit ahead of global debut
Excitement is building as the new Toyota Hilux Travo prepares to make its global debut later this year in Thailand.
Recently captured spy shots of a camouflaged test vehicle have generated buzz among pickup enthusiasts, indicating that Toyota is finalizing its latest model.
In December 2024, Toyota filed a trademark application for the name “Hilux Travo” with Thailand’s Department of Intellectual Property, signaling its intent to introduce this new iteration of the iconic pickup.
The spy photos show a test unit with camouflage on the front and rear, while the sides remain exposed.
This design suggests significant updates are underway, particularly at the front and rear, although the side body panels appear similar to the current model.
The new Hilux may be considered either a major facelift or a completely new model, reflecting Toyota’s recent design strategies.
The images align with earlier renderings, showcasing a reimagined front fascia, including redesigned fenders, a new hood, an updated bumper, and fresh headlights.
Camouflage also covers enhancements at the rear, including potential upgrades to the tailgate and taillights, as well as practical features like an integrated step in the rear wheel arches.

Under the hood, the next-generation Hilux is expected to retain the 2.8L GD-series turbo-diesel engine but with refinements to meet stricter emissions standards.
Additionally, the model may introduce an Electronic Power Steering (EPS) system to improve driving dynamics.
Set to launch in the second half of 2025, the Hilux Travo promises to blend innovation, performance, and practicality, maintaining its status as a reliable choice in the pickup market.
