How is Saim Ayub’s ankle injury now?
Pakistan cricket team’s opening batter Saim Ayub, who suffered an ankle injury, has reported a “positive update” on his condition, according to reports.
Doctors at The Harley Street Clinic have indicated that Ayub’s ankle injury is “improving.” A video of the left-handed batter surfaced on social media. “The medical report has come in, and the doctors have informed me that my ankle is better. I can also put weight on it, and the reports will be sent to the medical panel,” he said.
Ayub is in London for treatment, where he underwent his second check-up on Thursday.
The batter arrived at The Harley Street Clinic accompanied by Pakistan’s assistant cricket coach Azhar Mahmood. Consultant trauma and orthopaedic surgeon Dr Giasilan examined him for his injury on Wednesday.
Mahmood told reporters that “progress is being made regarding the batter’s health” and any reports would be sent to the medical panel.
He twisted his right ankle while fielding on the opening day of the second men’s cricket Test against South Africa at Newlands on January 3. The injury came on the second ball of the seventh over as Ryan Ricketon pushed a delivery through the slip cordon. Ayub turned and chased the ball but his ankle twisted causing him to fall.
The left-handed batter has been ruled out of competitive cricket for up to six weeks because of a right ankle fracture.

He was clinical in the South Africa tour. He helped his side complete an unprecedented clean sweep of their One-Day International series in South Africa last month.
It was the first time ever that South Africa failed to win even a single match in a home ODI series. Their previous drubbing was 1-5 against Australia in 2002.
Although Ayub was not able to score big runs in the first Test, his inclusion in the side was key to the team.
