The Punjab Traffic Police has announced updated fees for driving licenses in the province, applicable from January 7.

This update affects licenses for cars, motorcycles, and rickshaws, reinforcing the necessity of having a valid license for operating vehicles on public roads.

To obtain a driving license, applicants must successfully pass practical and road sign tests, along with submitting the required documents, which include a copy of their CNIC, three passport-sized photographs, a medical certificate from an authorized practitioner, a medical fitness certificate for those aged 50 and above, Application Form (A), and an original learner’s permit valid for at least 42 days.

The updated fees for one-year licenses are as follows:

• Motorcycle License: Rs930 annual fee, plus Rs 50 test fee.

• Rickshaw License: Rs880 annual fee, plus Rs 100 test fee.

• Car License: Rs1,830 annual fee, plus Rs 150 test fee.

These changes aim to enhance road safety and compliance with traffic regulations. In a related move, the Karachi traffic police have begun a crackdown on unlicensed drivers, imposing fines for operating vehicles without a valid license.
