Malir expressway’s initial stretch set to open soon in Karachi
Chief Minister of Sindh, Syed Murad Ali Shah, has announced that the first section of the Malir Expressway in Karachi is expected to open to the public on January 11 or 12.
During a recent meeting focused on the expressway’s progress, the CM confirmed that the initial 9-kilometer stretch has been completed.
The meeting included key officials such as Local Government Minister Saeed Ghani and Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab.
The CM emphasized the need for the completion of the Quaidabad Interchange within the next two months and improvements to the Shah Faisal Interchange leading to Airport Road.
Toll rates have been set at Rs 100 for cars and Rs 200 for buses, with a total of 18 toll booths planned along the expressway.
Additionally, 7 to 8 police vehicles will be stationed for patrolling, and emergency services, including ambulances and a fire brigade, will be readily available.

The CM has also instructed that a car patrolling system and automatic toll collection should be implemented for better efficiency and safety.
He reiterated the importance of maintaining security along the route, which will pass through the jurisdiction of five police stations.
