Temperatures plummet in Karachi as cold wave continues
Karachi continues to experience a significant cold wave, with temperatures plummeting to 15 degrees Celsius in the morning and dropping as low as 9 degrees Celsius overnight.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecasts this cold wave will persist for the coming week, with temperatures expected to fall further to between 6 and 8 degrees Celsius.
The PMD reports that the city is currently experiencing cold, dry conditions. Current air humidity stands at 37 percent.
Adding to the city’s woes, Karachi, ranked 11th among the world’s most polluted cities, is grappling with high levels of air pollution. Particulate matter (PM) levels have been recorded at 170, further compounding the discomfort for residents battling the cold weather.
The combination of frigid temperatures and poor air quality is creating challenging conditions for Karachi’s citizens.
