Deputy PM Ishaq Dar to visit Dhaka in early February
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar is scheduled to visit Dhaka in the first week of February as Pakistan and Bangladesh take steps to improve bilateral ties.
This visit follows a period of strained ties during the tenure of former prime minister Sheikh Hasina Wajid.
Dar announced his plans to travel to Dhaka on his return from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where he would be attending meetings from February 3-5.
He expressed his intention to meet with Bangladesh’s new leadership to initiate a fresh era of cooperation between the two nations.
This visit will hold special significance as it marks the first trip by a Pakistani foreign minister to Bangladesh since 2012. The foreign ministry confirmed that Dar’s visit at the invitation of his Bangladeshi counterpart.
Bangladesh’s Chief Executive Muhammad Yunus has accepted an invitation to visit Pakistan on mutually agreed dates.
