Karachi: Fire breaks out in old furniture market - Breaking - Aaj News

A significant fire erupted in a furniture market in Karachi late Monday, destroying around 30 shops before firefighters managed to bring it under control overnight, according to a fire official on Tuesday.

The blaze occurred near Kamran Chowrangi in the Gulistan-e-Jauhar area of the city. Fire Officer Zafar reported that six fire tenders were dispatched to combat the flames, which were so fierce that their bright flames and thick smoke could be seen from several kilometres away.

While the cause of the fire remained unknown, the fire officer confirmed that there had been no reported casualties from the incident.

Authorities dispatched six fire brigade vehicles to tackle a massive inferno at a furniture market in Karachi.

The incident comes just over a week after a fire broke out in the multi-storey Rimpa Plaza on MA Jinnah Road on December 19, marking the building’s second fire within a two-week period.

According to fire brigade sources, the recent blaze at Rimpa Plaza originated in a flat on the first floor, which is also home to various business offices. Firefighters utilised snorkels and multiple vehicles to control the flames, and fortunately, no casualties were reported.

The Rimpa Plaza experienced its first fire on December 3, which began in a first-floor flat and spread to the upper levels. At that time, all individuals inside the building were safely evacuated.
