Sindh govt abolishes employment quota for children of deceased employees
The Sindh government has officially abolished the employment quota for the children of deceased employees.
This decision was taken by the Sindh Cabinet following a directive from the Supreme Court. A notification has been issued stating that no further appointments will be made under the death quota in the province.
This move mirrors a similar decision made earlier this year by the Punjab government, which also revoked Rule 17-A pertaining to government jobs for the children of public servants who passed away during their service.
Under the previous provisions, a son, daughter, or widow of a deceased government employee was eligible for a government position. The Punjab government issued its formal notification regarding this policy change in July.
