Indian woman returns home after 22 years in Pakistan
Hameeda Bano, an Indian national originally from Mumbai, has returned to India after spending 22 years in Pakistan.
According to Express Tribune, in 2002, Bano was promised a job in Dubai by an agent but ended up stranded in Hyderabad, Pakistan.
After facing numerous challenges, she married a man from Karachi, who passed away during the COVID-19 pandemic, leaving her to live with her stepson.
Her story gained attention in 2022 when a local YouTuber shared a video about her experiences, leading to the discovery of her daughter in Mumbai.
Following this, the Indian government took action, confirming her citizenship and facilitating her return.

On December 17, Bano crossed back into India via the Wagah border.
Expressing mixed emotions, she shared that while she felt some sadness about leaving Pakistan, she was ultimately happy to reunite with her family.
