OGDCL revives heavy oil well in Chakwal
The Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has successfully revived a heavy oil well at the Rajian Oil Field in Chakwal district, increasing production by 1,000 barrels per day (bpd).
In a recent press release, OGDCL announced that the Rajian-3A well, which had been suspended since 2020 due to formation challenges, has been restored as part of the company’s optimization efforts.
Located in the Gujar Khan Exploration License area, the field’s output has now risen from 1,500 bpd to 2,500 bpd.
To resume production at Rajian-3A, OGDCL implemented an Electrical Submersible Pump (ESP) system in the Chorgali-Sakessar and Tobra formations, reaching a depth of 3,652 meters.
This well is the first of 11 targeted under an optimization plan that includes workover jobs and advanced artificial lift systems.
The company has also deployed its Rig N-4 at the Rajian field to complete the remaining optimization work, with the goal of further enhancing production. Results from these initiatives will be shared upon completion of the program.
