Two police officials, including an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI), were killed and three others injured in an attack on a police checkpost in the Shangla tehsil of Malakand district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

According to police, the attack took place at the Gunagar police checkpost in the Chesker area of Shangla.

The assailants threw a hand grenade and opened fire on the checkpost before fleeing the scene.

The injured officers were immediately transported to a hospital for medical treatment. Authorities are investigating the incident and searching for the perpetrators. No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
