Federal cabinet approves tariff review for eight additional IPPs
In a decisive move, the federal cabinet has approved a tariff review for an additional eight Independent Power Producers (IPPs), including JDW, Chiniot Power, Hamza Sugar, and Al-Moez Power Plant.
This decision was made during a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad.
Sources indicate that the cabinet also approved tariff reviews for Indus, Thal Industries, and Chenar Energy.
The recommendations came from a special task force established to address issues related to IPPs.

During the briefing, officials highlighted that the new tariff reviews could lead to significant savings for the national treasury, estimated at around Rs200 billion.
