Chris Evans set to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’
Chris Evans is reportedly making a comeback to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) for the upcoming film, Avengers: Doomsday, directed by Joe and Anthony Russo.
While details regarding his return as Steve Rogers remain uncertain, sources indicate that Anthony Mackie’s character, Sam Wilson, is expected to take on the mantle of Captain America.
Although it seems unlikely that Evans will don the Captain America suit again, the possibility of him reprising his role as Steve Rogers is still on the table.
Recently, Evans made headlines with a cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine, the highest-grossing R-rated film in the MCU, where he briefly revisited his role as Johnny Storm from the earlier Fantastic Four films.
This news comes after Evans last appeared as Steve Rogers in Avengers: Endgame, also directed by the Russo brothers, who are behind some of the most successful MCU films, including Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.
In addition to Evans, the cast of Avengers: Doomsday will feature Robert Downey Jr. as the film’s main antagonist, Dr. Doom, introducing a multiverse element to the storyline. Read more

The anticipation surrounding Evans’ potential involvement continues to grow, despite his earlier reservations about returning without a compelling reason.
