The airport security force detained two individuals on Tuesday over issuing a false bomb threat during a private airline flight. It was travelling from Islamabad to Karachi.

The two passengers allegedly alarmed everyone on board with false information.

As per standard operating procedures, a thorough inspection of the aircraft was conducted, including checks of the luggage area and passengers’ belongings.

Authorities confirmed that the bomb threat was a hoax and the plane was subsequently deemed safe. The flight was cleared to depart for Karachi shortly thereafter, with over 100 passengers on board.

Upon inquiry over the individuals, officials said that the investigation was under way.

In the recent past, many people have been arrested for hoax bomb threats on flights in India and the United States. In October, over 275 flights were targeted by hoax bomb threats in India.

All flights landed safely, but the spate of threats had resulted in planes being diverted to Canada and Germany, and fighter jets scrambled to escort aircraft in the skies above Britain and Singapore.

Last month, a spokesperson for X, formerly known as Twitter, said that the company is dedicated to addressing terror threats made on its platform against Indian flights.
