Lord William Hague has been elected as the new Chancellor of Oxford University. He will assume the role for a ten-year term, beginning early next year.

Lord Hague is the 160th Chancellor in the university’s 800-year history. He is a former leader of the Conservative Party.

It is noteworthy that Imran Khan, founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party, had also submitted his application for the chancellorship.

However, his name was not included in the final list of candidates released by the university.
