In a heartbreaking incident in New Saeedabad tehsil of Sindh’s Matiari District, a grade 17 female lecturer, Afshan Jamali, has fallen victim to Karo Kari, a type of honor killing.

Her husband, Imdad Jamali, allegedly shot her at Bakar Jamalia Higher Secondary School, asserting that she was involved in an extra-marital affair.

Imdad confessed to authorities that he killed Afshan after failing to convince her to end her supposed relationship with another man.

He claimed that her refusal to change her behavior ultimately led him to commit the act.

Haji Muhammad Jamal, Afshan’s father, who lives in Dubai, has blamed Imdad, along with his father Wazir Jamali and brother Darya Khan, for orchestrating the murder, suggesting that greed for property was the motive.

He firmly stated that his daughter was not involved in any affair and had recently received financial assistance from him.

Haji Muhammad indicated that he had sent Rs200,000 to Afshan shortly before her death, which included her salary.

He also mentioned that Imdad had pressured her for additional funds, and when she declined, he shot her.

Afshan had recently passed the Sindh Public Service Commission examination and was working as a lecturer.

Before her marriage to Imdad, with whom she had three children, she had been living in Dubai. As of now, police have not filed a formal first information report (FIR) regarding the case.
